Sally began her love affair with yoga in 2008 while working in the film industry in Atlanta as a way to escape from her chaotic lifestyle as a costumer (think tax season hours with an ever-changing sleep schedule). During the first few months of attending a local yoga studio, she would quickly sneak out before savasana, explaining to the instructor that she “had somewhere to be,” because she could not see how laying on the floor would be of any benefit to her. She quickly realized that yoga not only transformed her physical appearance, but also grounded her mental and emotional health with clarity, mindfulness and confidence. Since she was a child, Sally had always struggled to maintain a healthy body weight and suffered from a negative body image as a result. Yoga became the one form of exercise she did not dread doing every day and quickly became a part of her healthier lifestyle. Combined with a healthy diet and Herbalife supplements, Sally shed a lot weight—losing 137 pounds in total!
In 2012, Sally received her RYT 200 certification with Balance Health Studios on the sandy, white beaches of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. While not always the best student in school (sorry, Mom!), Sally cannot seem to learn enough when it comes to the practice of yoga and plans on pursuing her RYT 500 certification also with Balance Health Studios.
She enjoys infusing sunshine into her interactive, upbeat, vinyasa classes with purposeful sequencing to achieve just the right amount sweat…or should we say, sparkle? Sally also brings a joy to her practice that encourages her students to exercise their giggle in every aspect of life, both on and off the mat.
In 2014, Sally brought two of her passions together in Southern Yoga Girl LLC, to create inspiring activewear full of color and southern charm. Because shouldn’t your yoga attire shine as bright as your inner light?
In addition to yoga, the loves of Sally’s life include her prince charming Scott, her 4 wonderful bonus kids, her precious pup “Sparkie”, cheese pizza, chocolate cupcakes (its about balance, right?), the color pink, composing magical yoga playlists, Alabama football and anything that sparkles!
